Chantry High School

The Chantry High School is a mixed comprehensive school, which caters for students in Years 7-11, supported by Worcestershire Local Education Authority.  There are approximately 700 students currently on roll. Set in a rural community, the school is the partner of ten primary schools within its traditional catchment area.  It also maintains close links with Worcester Sixth Form College and Worcester Technical College.

Chantry High School is situated seven and a half miles west of Worcester City in a rural enviroment in the fairly small village of Martley.  The present school opened in 1963 becoming a Comprehensive High School in 1983 as part of Worcestershire Schools reorganisation.  In 2000 a new Sports Hall was built followed in 2001 by a new Music Centre.

The school is the focal point of a very wide catchment area and serves as a Secondary School for a number of contributory Primary Schools.

Pupils arrive at the age of eleven from village schools at Abberley, Astley, Broadheath, Clifton-on-Teme, Great Witley, Grimley & Holt, Hallow, Martley and Pensax.  The school is also very popular with parents of pupils living outside the catchment area.  A daily bus leaves the Martley turn near Worcester each morning and returns in the evenings to the same point.  The majority of pupils are transported by coach to and from school each day.

The School has maintained its Health Promoting School status and in 2000 received Sportsmark status.
