Martley is a busy village - and many people have busy lives.
That does not mean that you have to speed through some of the village roads without regard to other road users.
We have had reports of three places where local - and known - drivers have been recorded travelling at speed.
Martley Hillside - with a number of near misses when school children are returning home at 4p.m.
- local driver/car identified
Berrow Green - excess speed through Berrow Green and down the hill into Martley
- local driver/car identified
Willow Road (Newtown) - excess speed on narrow section, killing cat
- driver/car to be identified.
Just so that everyone cannot say they haven't been told, we will shortly be having random speed traps, especially targetting hot-spots and known vehicles.
If anyone does feel that a car is speeding on a regular basis, can take the registration and make of the vehicle, and pass on the information to the Parish Council Clerk, a police home visit can be arranged to that owner, with the possibility of random checks elsewhere when out driving.
Please be considerate driving - a few extra seconds is not worth an innocent death

Most dog owners are very responsible both to their pets and to the community.
However, it has been reported that at least one owner takes no responsiblity for the mess that he allows his dog to leave on the grass lawns in front of Heaton House - even though the dog is on a lead at the time.
It's not pleasant, and it's not necessary, and it's not appropriate.
Apparently the person in question is:
a) local
b) well-known
c) should definitely know better.
At the risk of being photographed with his dog "at work" again - and being named and shamed - we hope that he reads this entry on the web site, and from now on poop-scoops and takes away what his dog leaves behind.
The alternatives do of course include prosecution.
