Just by chance I entered in Martley in the google search and wow up comes Martley.org.uk. I was born in Martley, my mother was Frances Margaret Michael nee Bradburn. Her parents was Thomas and Charlotte Bradburn. The last time I was in Martley was May 1994.
As a child I spent a lot of time in Martley, I can remember the smell of the hops, I also remember going out picking strawberrys, apples and such in the summer.
Walking up to the church was a regular occurance I can even remember pulling the ropes of the bells in the Church. Even visiting the Nubbins was great was a great way to pass time. Playing in the Hay ricks also was fun, I can still see the mice. For a very short time I attended the Martley school.
Now I live in Brisbane, Quensland Australia, a whole world away. I have two adult children who as babies came to Martley with me for a visit. I still have relatives in the area.
I congratulate the page on a most informative read. I have listed to sight to visit again. many thanks for the visit down memory lane or was it Jury Lane.
