Bar in MVH

As you can guess, the opening of the bar is not quite just as simple as having volunteers.....

For many years the bar struggled to provide beer from the barrel - the result - major losses, because folks just didn't come along to drink it (apart from a feisty mouse, who found that supping the overspills was better than taking steroids to bulk out his muscles).

Also, tastes change - and with the approach of a third public house in the area (The Admiral Rodney, The Talbot at Knightwick, and now The Crown) - all with major investment programmes to make them successful, it's highly unlikely that a regular bar in the Village Hall would attract a client group to make it worthwhile.

So it's a bit more complicated than just somebody being prepared to give up some time....

Bar in the M.V.Hall

I have just read with interest the comments regarding opening the bar in the Village Hall, I have made the same comments to the Hall committee, which I am a member. The main reason it has not been opened is that no one is prepared to give up thier time to open it. If serious interest is shown then I am sure I could get the decision reversed and I for one would be prepared to open it and afer all the Hall could do with the extra revenue.

Spamming

My apologies for problems we are experiencing on the HaveYourSay blog. Some American sites have picked it up and are putting spurious comments on it with links to porn sites. I am actively investigating this. Various 'tweaks' can be applied but we may need to install the latest version. This has two drawbacks. 1) it may cause the HaveYourSay to go down for a period (until I can get my head round the new version) and 2) It will probably cost us (me?) as Moveable Type have got a lot more commercial and charge according to the likely use of the program, The free version is now restricted to 1 contributor - we have 5/6 at the mo. If anybody from Martley has bothered to read this far - would they like to be a HaveYourSay 'reporter' ? Contact me

Survey

Just to let everyone know that a summary paper copy of the Survey will be included in next month's Villager, with a digest of extra comments that came on the returns.

The Surveys returned are being kept and archived so that they can remain a valid record for the Parish.

We wish to thank everyone who took the time and trouble to return the Survey - it has given the Parish Council valuable information on a whole range of issues.
