Lippit Family

I’ve been doing an internet search for information about Martley without success and came across your “The Villager” newsletter and your e-mail address.

My husband’s “Lippitt” ancestors had a branch of the family who lived in the village of Martley and we’re hoping you can help us with some local information or kindly direct us to a person in Martley who could help us.

In the Martley churchyard is the following headstone:

In loving memory of Alfred Lippitt died 10th November 1966 aged 73 also his dear wife Margaret passed away 13th October 1997 in her 100th year
We are familiar with the family history of Alfred from his birth backwards, however have no information about him until we recently were told about this headstone. We would very much like to contact the family of Alfred and Margaret Lippitt and have the following questions:

As Margaret Lippitt’s death is fairly “recent” we are wondering if you personally knew her or any of her children and how we may come in contact with them? We realize she may have lived away from Martley and was brought back to be buried with her husband in the churchyard.

We are wondering if any Lippitt families live in Martley or the area at the moment?

We are wondering what the name(s) and address of any funeral home in Martley or surrounding villages that service the people of Martley where Margaret Lippitt’s funeral service “may” have been organized from? If we could have the names and addresses of these homes, we are very willing to contact them.

We’d also appreciate the name of the local newspaper(s) that services the village of Martley where Alfred and Margaret’s obituaries may have been published in 1966 and 1997.

We would also love a photograph of the headstone. We're wondering if you or if you know of anyone who might have a digital camera who might be able to take a photo and e-mail it to us?

We realize these are rather unusual requests, so we thank you in advance for any help you can be.
