Hello Martley,
I am descended from Charles Holliday & Amelia Morton of Martley who had 8 children that I know of - they are:-
Mary 1826, Emma 1829, Ellen 1830, Henry 1833, John 1836, Thomas 1838, Anne 1838, Jane 1845.
(Thomas & Anne were twins )
Mary married Jeremiah Maiden (my great great grandparents).
If there are any others who like myself are descended from Charles & Amelia and feel they would like to get in touch - please don't hesitate in droping me an e-mail at philheeks@yahoo.co.uk
I look forward to hearing from you
All the very best

Hi there, unless I'm missing something Martley could do with broadband access for the community.....and anyone who's holding their breath for BT to deliver broadband to Martley which will probably be never at the current rate then you can stop......have a look at this website for a wireless broadband offering and its not too expensive. We only need another 35 interested people and they'll offer it in Martley. Go to Website www.air-band.co.uk.
Go on !! Register and get Martley some broadband.

There are trailer/tack/garden equipment thieves in the area again.
One of the vehicles they use is an oldish red Japanese pickup usually driven by two middle-aged men with angular facial features and wiry hair.
Two younger well-built dark haired men driving a more up to date 4x4 are also involved.

My father and I are planning a trip to England and visit to Martley this September. My dad, who is in his 80's, would like to see the places where many of our ancestors came from, the area around Martley. Specifically, we are aware that members of the Nash family are buried at St. Peters Church, that three monuments to Nash ancestors are located on the floor of the main aisle of the church, and that a pair of stained glass windows were dedicated to Nash's who were killed in France during World War I.
In addition, we would like to visit the house that sits on the old Nash Estate, originally about 600 acres. But we are not exactly sure how to contact someone about all of this. If you have any information, maps, names to contact, or other sources of information, could you pass it on to me.
I really appreciate the help.

Hi, did you know that I was on the radio on Sat morning 0610 (ugh) BUT repeated on Thurs 13.30 (well I'll be properly awake). There is also a View image
picture of me in disguise!
They "Stitched me up" by me showing them a hive of nice well behaved old British Black bees first and then showing them a hive of mongrel bees. I was showing them the colour variation of the bees and the poorer temper of the mongrels. They CUT the explanation so it seemed at the end that the British Blacks were attacking Helen Mark and her microphone! So much for extolling the virtues of the pure bred bee! I was also extolling the good work of the Bee Improvement and Bee Breeding Association (BIBBA) who are the body that has 'rescued' the British Black bee which got left out completely!
What do you think of the one on the CRC site?
